Inputs or supervises input of prescriptions and patient information into the pharmacy computer system.
Maintains and reviews computer patient diagnostic profiles for appropriateness of medications and patient compliance.
Ensures safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of medications to patients.
Maintains appropriate records of dispensing as required by state and federal laws.
Provides accurate drug information to physicians, nurses, patients and other personnel as needed.
Counsels patients on dosage, usage, storage, side effects and indications of medications.
Consults prescribers to clarify inaccuracies, correct errors, notify of potential diagnostic related events and obtain refill authorization.
Supervises storage of pharmaceuticals and other related duties as required.
Provides prescription transfer information to and from pharmacies.
Participates in continuing education programs to enhance skills and satisfy current licensure requirements.
